Second SightWhat good is a story without time-traveling? This is probably what went through Akira Amano's head the moment she brought up the idea of the ten-year bazooka, a weapon created by the Bovino family that allows whomever that is hit my its bullets to switch places with their future selves from ten years later for five minutes. After the battle against the Varia (Vongola's assassination squad), Tsuna and the gang were happy to be back to their peaceful lives once again—that is until everyone gets transported ten years into the future with little hope of going back. Much battling and power-ups ensue just like any other story arc, but this time around we get a glimpse of what the main cast will be like ten years into the future. Ten years. That's quite a long stretch of time, but it seems Mukuro has not changed one bit. HStill the same cunning and mafia-hating man, there's little to no difference from where he last left off ten years ago (except now he's got long hair and became really tall). Mukuro is still waiting for the right moment to take over Tsuna's body—whom by the way is now the current boss of the Vongola in this era—but now it seems after much time with the Vongola he's made many, many, connections.
He has become a more active Vongola guardian, though he would never admit it. With the world/dimensions/universe at the brink of being dominated by the Millefiore family, it is no wonder why Mukuro is constantly on the move and assisting the Vongola so that Byakuran, the Millefiore boss, can be defeated. Mukuro still hates the mafia. It is not because he has a personal grudge again the Millefiore or the fact that they're taking over the world—it is because a mafia family may end up ruling the world. In my opinion, that may very well be Mukuro's worst nightmare coming to life. He even went as far as to jam the connection between the Japan Millefiore headquarters to the Italy headquarters just so that he may have the chance the witness Byakuran's powers and relay it back to the Vongola without any interference. That plan didn't go accordingly though seeing as how TYL! (Ten Years Later) Mukuro was trapped by Byakuran and went M.I.A. for over a hundred chapters, much to every Mukuro-fan's dismay. Since the appearance of the present day Chrome in the future, it has been pretty much confirmed that out of every Vongola Guardian including the boss, Tsuna, Mukuro is the first to figure out everything. He always came off as the intellectual type, but he is always the first to know for some obscure reason. Whether it was the Arcobalenos' secret, Xanxus' grand scheme, the younger Chrome appearing in the future, or Byakuran's power—Mukuro manages to stay a step a head of everyone and this eventually benefits all his allies. I'm not quite sure where he gets his info, but it does work to his advantage. When all hope seemed lost for the Tsuna-tachi when Xanxus had his men ordered to kill Tsuna right after the ring scramble (win or lose), Mukuro comes to the rescue by telling Lancia, who assists Tsuna and the guardians by defeating the Varia's subordinates. Later in the story, after faking a defeat against Glo Xinia nine years into the future, Mukuro patiently awaits the younger Chrome's appearance so that he may use her Vongola ring to his advantage at battle and defeat Glo Xinia. We aren't too sure how he knew the younger Chrome would come to the future seeing as how the plan to bring present day Tsuna-tachi to the future was only discussed between the older Tsuna, Shoichi Irie, and Kyoya Hibari.
Though some questions are still left unanswered, we eventually learn that one of his connections is Fran, the new Varia member and his apprentice. Fran is how Mukuro keeps up to date with the Vongola after cutting off connections with the older Chrome. He even uses the Varia to relay messages back to the Vongola (re: TYL!Ryohei knew the younger Chrome would be in Kokuyo because of the Varia who were informed by Mukuro). By having Fran, Mukuro was also able to come to the Vongola's rescue when they were battling with the real Six Funeral Wreathes (Byakuran's henchmen) and was even able to successfully escape the Vendice prison once more.
